Four years ago at the age of 28, I found myself questioning many of my life experiences. From abandonment to foster care to adoption and then to abandonment again, I needed answers and I feared that my life would continuously spiral down the same frightening road. Always interested in metaphysics and new age spirituality, I stumbled upon numerology one day and have been completely obsessed ever since. Numerology answered many of my ongoing questions about life and has served as a valuable guide which I use on a daily basis to asses relationships and make predictive decisions.
In brief, Numerology is the study of symbolism in numbers, dating back 10,000 years ago. The modern branch of the metaphysical field that we know today was developed by Greek Philosopher, Pythagoras. Numerology is used to discover a person’s personality, talents, challenges, heart’s desire, and interaction with others. It is an insightful tool that can help you uncover your true path in life and take advantage of opportunities at the right times.
The main numbers focused on, 1-9, each vibrate to their own frequency. The key personality traits for each number are as follows
1 – new beginnings, independence, initiation, confidence
2 – cooperation, diplomatic, sensitive, warm
3 - creativity; joy of living; self-expression; the arts
4 – loyal, hard-working, managerial, practical
5 - freedom, adventure, change, adaptability
6 - responsibility; nurturer, healer, teacher
7 - introspective, spiritual, investigative, wise
8 - ambition, power, executive abilities, leadership
9 - humanitarian, forgiveness, emotional, sympathetic
Once we understand the basic characteristics of the numbers, we are then able to see where and how they fit into our lives. Knowing the vibration of each particular number can also help determine which particular energy field you want to bring into your life, or one that you are lacking. The most important number in numerology is our life path. This number never changes and remains with us throughout life. This number reveals the road we are traveling down in life. It’s the general opportunities and challenges that will be presented to us throughout life and the innate traits we are born with that will help us confront these experiences. To find this number, we reduce our birthday down to a single digit. Let’s use my birthday as an example: April 8, 1982
Discovering my 5 life path has turned my life around. At 28, I feared all of the very characteristics associated with my path because I was only able to equate each feeling with negative experiences. But once I learned to embrace these innate traits that I was born with, my life began to turn around! Rather than consistently having trepidations that I’d always be abandoned and never have a family, I learned to cherish and appreciate my freedom. Because of this, I’ve been able to attract the very things in life that I crave in healthy doses – like stability in areas that I need it most. I now welcome change and see it as a sign of growth and courage. I now see life as an adventure and understand that my path will encounter an array of opportunities that will require great flexibility on my part. As long as I welcome my inborn cameleon-like personality, I will thrive in any environment I choose.
The second most important number in our charts which greatly shapes our destiny is called our expression number. The expression number is derived from the values of the letters in our name. Each letter is assigned a different value. Like the life path number, we add all of the numbers up and then reduce the total to a single digit to arrive at our vibration. Whereas the life path number reveals the major life lessons we will meet, the expression number reveals what we are here to achieve, and the talents we must bring to the forefront to fulfill our personal destiny. Because of this, changing our name can literally change our destiny! I was born Jacqueline Rose Ranieri, which vibrates to a number 3; a very jovial energy. I was adopted around the age of 11 and my name was legally changed to Jacqueline Judith Jones. My adopted name produced a much more serious energy. Although I do think the 7 energy added beneficial layers to my personality, I never truly felt fulfilled in my adult years. I always felt that something was missing. As an avid student and teacher of numerology, I made the decision to legally go back to my birth name in January of 2014. Whereas it took around fifteen years to fully harness and understand the energies of my 7 vibration, I started to feel the effects of my name change at less than a year in. At 32 years old, my life is just beginning in many ways and I have a lot to figure out. But what I can say is that for the first time in my adult life, I feel a warm tingly feeling in my heart – like I’m where I’m supposed to be.
There are many other numbers in our charts that shed light on our unique paths in life . The two presented here are just examples of what a powerful tool numerology can play in influencing your life. To discover your own life path number, enter your date of birth in our calculator.
