I’m sharing this mantra with you today because I had to use it on myself this morning. One of my biggest challenges is saying “no” to people as I’m a people pleaser. Being a new business owner has certainly granted me more than enough opportunities to face this challenge head on. I was able to rise up to the occasion in some circumstances, while others have left me in unfortunate situations. I put my own needs last only to end up feeling resentful. So today I chose to honor my mind, body and soul and ask myself “what will the outcome be if I say yes and what will the outcome be if I say no?” When I operate from a rational state rather an emotional one, the answer becomes clear. In this case, compromise seemed to be the better solution. We can also use this thought process to help us listen to our intuition better. This one is easy and always works. When faced with a dilemma, step back from the situation and assess how it makes your body feel. Before I incorporated my company, I was offered a position that would have given me a $20k raise. The promotion seemed really enticing and temptation seeped in. I weighed the money against the freedom and growth I would have owning my own business, knowing that I’d have to sacrifice an income for quite some time. As soon as I thought about the raise and what the new position would entail, my stomach would start to hurt. When I thought about owning a business, I felt invigorated. I knew what I had to do.
